KEF was established in October 1996. It Is registered as an NGO with the Social Welfare Department of Government of Khyber Pukhtonkhwa with aim to encourage and promote activities for the prevention and control of blindness in the province. KEF specializes in cataract surgeries as cataract accounts for almost 80 % of blindness in Pakistan and its significantly poor segment of the society is mostly victim of this.
